of dian khayla turning two & our 2013 eid celebrations

Well, hello there everyone !
Assamu'alaikum !
Selamat Hari Raya ! Still valid lah I guess since today is the last day of Syawal, teehee. :)

This is going to be a looooong post so bear with me ok ? :)

On the 13th of August, 2 years ago, after 21 hours of labour (yes, you can click here to relive my birthing experience, hee), this precious gem was born !

Happy 2nd Birthday my Beautiful Light !

Thank you Allah. :)

Dearest DK, Mummy loves you so so so so much & I cannot imagine life without you and your incessant chatter.
I pray that you grow up to be bright and the best in this world & the hereafter. May you be blessed with all the pretty, happy & wonderful things you deserve. Aameen.

Loadsa love, hugs & sloppy kisses from your Mummy ! :')

Mr. Sunshine and I planned a birthday celebration for Khayla at Burger King, Extreme Park, Shah Alam on the August 25th. We invited family, some relatives friends who lived nearby.
I ordered a Barney themed birthday cake & Mr. Sunshine hired 'Barney' to entertain the kids.

The Barney we hired turned out to be skinny and looked pretty different (haha) from the real Barney, so Khayla wasn't really pleased. In fact, she was terrified ! Haha.

The birthday cake from Jasmeen Home Delights

THE BIRTHDAY GIRL, WOOT WOOT !

Cake cutting session. :)

Told ya she was terrified of this version of Barney. Poor baby ! Hehe.
I even had to distract her with a toy to take a picture with Barney.
Us, sans Fahim who was asleep. Hehe. I look so tired !

Arina & pretty Ayra !

With my BFF Annisa and Lene.

The in-laws :)

The extended family ! :)

The friends ! :)

Mak & Abah who came all the way from Batu Pahat. :')

Disclaimer: No carbonated drinks were served at the party. Hehe.

Alhamdulillah, the party went smoothly. Khayla would like to thank everyone for their presence & presents ! :)

Now moving on to our Raya celebrations this year, as I mentioned in my previous post, we spent Raya eve and the first two days of Syawal in Gombak this year.
Daddy bought beef rendang from Aunty Leha and I made some peanut sauce, chicken curry (as per Mr Sunshine's request) & boiled some nasi himpit. :)

I had a makeup malfunction on the first day of Syawal. I realized I bought the wrong eyeliner because this one made me look like I have black eyes. Blergh. And because I didn't bring my makeup remover, I had to deal with fugly eyes the whole day !

Selamat Hari Raya ya'll ! :)

We went to arwah Mummy's close friend, Aunty Zainah's place in the morning. When I was small, I used to think that this was our kampung. Yes, that's how long we've known Aunty Zainah ! :")

Sunshine ! :)

Seth Fahim wore a baju melayu along with a sampin, super cute tau !

The future dentist and I.

The only photo we took at Aunty Leha's place was of Khayla and her cousins, hehe.

At Aunty Maziey's. Just like the good old days. :)

With Sal on the second day of Syawal before leaving for Batu Pahat. :)

Beraya in Batu Pahat in purple. :)

With the in-laws. :)
This was on the 5th of Syawal before going to Akey's house. :)

My bestie of 15 years with her daughter Qaireen Alisha. :)
Last stop the day before I go back to work - Mak Andak's. :)

There's gonna be a huge change in our lives, soon InshaAllah. No, Khayla is not getting a sibling, YET. I'll blog about it soon.  Ok ok, I'LL TRY to blog about it soon. Don't be mad if I blog about it 6 months after it happens, haha.

I hope all of you had a splendid Raya ! :)

day 27

Hello all !

Assalamu'alaikum. :)

How has your 27 days of Ramadhan been so far ?
There's still time to repent, change and make this our best Ramadhan ever, InshaAllah. :)

My Ramadhan has been good, Alhamdulillah, better than last year (I hope) but there's so much more that I wish I could do. 2 more days to go !

This year, we'll be celebrating Raya in Gombak first, InshaAllah. :)
It will be Mr. Sunshine's first Raya eve in Gombak. I hope he adjusts well.

Mr. Sunshine is currently out for terawikh while Khayla & I are waiting for my Shaklee customer to come pick up her supplements. :)

Gotta go layan my daughter now. Bye !

13 Ramadhan 1434H

OH MY, I MISS YOU BLOGOSPHERE !

Hello all !
Today is the 13th of Ramadhan, Alhamdulillah.
And according to Islamic calendar, darling Dian Khayla is TWO !

Alhamdulillah, thank you Allah for this precious gem !

Khayla is one hell of a chatterbox and Mr. Sunshine says she got it from me, haha.
She can form short sentences and can even say, "Jap eh !", when I call her. Hehe.
She knows how to say, "Owi," (sorry) when she's done something wrong.
She can follow instructions pretty well, Alhamdulillah.
Loves watching Barney and Upin & Ipin !
She is definitely a handful (Alhamdulillah), there is no such thing as shopping when we're out and about with her, it always turns into a chasing-Khayla-around outing. Hehe.
And she can throw quite a major temper tantrum by hitting Mr Sunshine and I (sobss) and/or throwing stuff around when she's cranky or isn't happy. I hope this is just a phase. Ameen.
She still needs a bit of time to warm up to people she isn't familiar with.

I'm happy that she knows how an "A-Qu-an" (Al-Qur'an) looks like and she loves to imitate the way we read the Qur'an by flipping through the pages and mumbling. I'm happy she wants to put on the telekung and pretend to pray (although her rukuk is a squat, hehe).
I hope and pray she becomes a good Muslim, Ameen.

Dearest Dian Khayla, I can't believe you're TWO already, darling, Mummy and Ayah love you more than you know ! Forgive us for being far from perfect parents, but we're trying our very best ! You're still the reason I can't wait to get home everyday. Happy birthday sayang ! :')

Shaklee National Conference 2012/2013

I know this post is a bit late because the Shaklee National Conference was over almost 2 weeks ago, but hey, better late than never ! Hehe.

So Mr. Sunshine and I attended the Shaklee National Conference 2012/2013 on June 8 at Sunway Resort & Spa. It is an annual event to celebrate all the achievers (Star Achievers, as Shaklee puts it) of the previous 2012/2013 cycle. :)

Apart from the awards ceremony, there was also good entertainment and inspiring sharing sessions from Presidential Master Shareeza (my great grandma in Shaklee, hehe) and Master Law Chu Hian (ex-NTV7 broadcaster who beat cancer -  I can't believe he's 50 years old !).

Mr. Sunshine and I were recipients of an award too that day, Alhamdulillah. No words can express my feelings when we walked up the stage with our trophy ! Congratulations to all my sisters in Shaklee who received the same award. Funny how all of us were so excited queuing up to receive our awards. Hehe.

My rock ! Thank you for continuous support, sayang ! :)

Star Achievers ! Photo thanks to Maria Abas

My Ummi in Shaklee is so awesome she received 9 awards ! Yes, 9 ! She is now based in Miri so that goes to show that distance doesn't matter, you can grow with Shaklee no matter where you are.

My Ummi, Senior Key Coordinator Nadiah Suhaidi, who's currently preggers. :)

My 'anak', Hajar, who managed to come that day. :)

It was such a memorable event, overflowing with positive energy. So exhilarating !

I vow to make next year's National Conference even more memorable and I want to see my 'anak-anak' walk up the stage too, InshaAllah ! :)

soda pop.

Hi all. :)

I just had to document this.
This is going to be hard to believe but I HAVE NOT HAD A CARBONATED DRINK SINCE APRIL !
Woohoo !
I consider this a huge achievement because prior to that I was downing Coke Light (and going to McDonald's) AT LEAST once a week. :(
Even Mr Sunshine is amazed that I can live without Coke Light. Haha.

This is a decision I made based on the increased frequency of my cold sores, I did some research and I found out that an acidic diet contributes to cold sore flare ups. Although Shaklee products helped in decreasing my cold sores severity and duration, they were still popping up more frequent than usual.

Plus, I don't want my daughter to gain the habit of drinking soft drinks too !

I used to stay away from sodas until I was in UiTM, and that was also when my insane love affair with McDonald's started. I used to study every day at McDonald's during examination week, imagine that !

So basically I have been avoiding fast food and most importantly carbonated drinks. If  I do go to a fast food joint (which is pretty rare these days), I'll skip the soft drinks. :)

I am so frickin' proud of myself.

Ok bye. :)

between getting old and old memories.

Okayyyy it's about time for an update !
*blows dust off blog*

I'm so sorry for abandoning this space for more than two months ! I wonder if anyone still reads my blog ? Anyone ? Hello ?

*crickets sounds*

These days I always fall asleep earlier than I intend to every night. I usually doze off while putting Khayla to bed, not because I am exhausted or tired but because our bed has become just too comfy since Mr. Sunshine brought our portable air cond from Gombak to Shah Alam. *blushes*
As much as I want to stay up, I just succumb to the cool breeze and comfy mattress, sometimes even BEFORE Khayla dozes off. Haha. So that's why I have so little to no time to blog. :)

Before I start rambling away, this a personal message to Mel Ng, haha.
Mel ! You can connect with me on Instagram (melissaraffur) and Facebook (Melissa Raffur). :D

Anywayyy, life hasn't changed so much since I last wrote.
Khayla is officially off the pacifier. Alhamdulillah. I feel that her pacifier has played a role in her frequent fever/flu all this while.

I turned 29 last month. Happy birthday to me ! Do I feel old ? Nope. Haha, with the exception of my osteoarthritic knees, I think I'm doing okayy for a 29-year old. Do I look old ? Haha that's for you to judge lah. :p

Marc treated me (along with the rest of the family) to some Seoul Garden. Yums ! I was down with stomach poisoning that weekend, but it didn't stop me from gobbling down all the delicious food.

The sister in-law treated me to some Fullhouse. :)

Annisa darling took me to Baci, Citta Mall. :)

Mr. Sunshine brought me out on a date to watch Iron Man 3, wheee !

Awww, I feel so blessed. Alhamdulillah. :)

I just got back from a getaway to Cherating last weekend with my family (Daddy, Marc, Marlene, Linn & Fahim included !). Cherating brings back a lot sweet memories when arwah Mummy was still around, so it was good to be able to go back there and reminisce.

Khayla and I at our favourite Hai Peng Kopitiam.

Before leaving our Antara Suite at Holiday Villa, Cherating.
You can view the rest of the photos on Instagram. :)

Ok gotta get back to playing the Fishing Game with Khayla.
What Fishing Game ?

THIS ONE !

Hahahaha. Khayla loves to catch the 'pish' and 'atak' (masak) them for me.

Ok bye.

pacify me.

Last night was the forth night Khayla slept throughout the night without her soother. Syukur Alhamdulillah.
We stopped giving her the pacifier during the day since December last year but she still needed to suck on it in order to go to bed at night.
I have been thinking of ways to wean her off (her pacifier), because she is the type who would wake up in the middle of the night and cry for her pacifier.

This was the time Khayla was busy scrunching up a wedding card, but immediately dozed off once her pacifier was in her mouth. :p

On Friday night, Khayla had trouble going to bed and staying asleep as she was in pain from her two molars cutting through her gums. Poor baby couldn't even drink water without screaming. All three of us had very little sleep that night.

Mr Sunshine and I had already planned to go to Port Dickson that following Saturday so we thought hard on whether we should carry on with the plan since all three of us are exhausted and Khayla was in pain. We decided to go.
Mr. Sunshine bought a tube of teething gel from a nearby pharmacy just in case.
We brought along a thick comforter just in case the hotel didn't provide a baby cot in which they did but I thought the mattress was too hard and was a tad too small for the cot, so we decided to let Khayla sleep on the comforter.
The funny thing is, as soon as I laid the comforter on the hotel room carpet, Khayla started rolling around on it as if she knew it was her 'bed', hehe. Syukur Alhamdulillah, after a few minutes of rolling around on the comforter, she dozed off on her own, without her pacifier !
She stayed asleep throughout the night too ! I guess she loved the air conditioned room. :)

I hid her pacifier again the following night. And Alhamdulillah she slept on her own throughout the night again. :D
Khayla was cranky throughout the whole trip but she was manageable. :)
I am glad I didn't have to use the teething gel.

I did the same when we got back to Shah Alam. Khayla did wake up crying but it was because she was feeling hot (she was all sweaty). Amboi baru tidur two nights in a hotel room dah tak boleh tidur bawah kipas ! Hehe. Fortunately she didn't need her pacifier to go back to sleep. :)

Syukur Alhamdulillah.
I really hope this continues and that I can throw out her soother soon !

Next mission is to pierce her ears ! InshaAllah.

two babies and a wedding.

Hellloouuuu all !

HAVE YOU MISSED MEEE ?

If you have, here is a looong pictorial post of the recent important happenings in my life plus a little update on my darling Khayla. :)

January

Mr. Sunshine and I celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary by going out for a simple movie and lunch date at One Utama. :)

Alhamdulillah. I love you so much, sayang. Meh saya nyanyi sikit, "No one, no one, no onneeee, can get in the way of what I feel for youuuu !" :D
Happy Anniversary, thank you for the oven ! I promise to bake and roast more often. ;)

My best friend, Akhir, gave birth to a healthy baby girl on her birthday ! Awesome kan ? Syukur Alhamdulillah.

Qaireen Alisha is the given name. :)

February

One of my sisters in-law got married on the second day of Chinese New Year. Alhamdulillah.
2 down, 2 more to go ! Hehe. Saja nak bagi Syahieda stressed sikit, muahahaha.

The newlyweds just after their solemnization ceremony. :)

We had cute badges on the day of the reception ! I'm the KAKAK PENGANTIN okayyy. Walaupun kakak, tapi maintain muda ok. Haha.

♥ ♥ ♥

The other sister in-law and I goofing around. :D

The siblings in grey. Oh FYI, I sewed the lace on my baju kurung on my own ! *pats own back*

Mum in-law sayang !

Pengantin baru with 'pengantin sentiasa baru'. Hehe.

Mr. Sunshine drove Khayla and I to Johor Bahru where we stayed for a night. We went to Puteri Harbour Family Theme Park and Khayla absolutely enjoyed herself at the Little Big Club where she played to her heart's content and got to meet Barney, Angelina the Ballerina and Bob the Builder. She was particularly ecstatic to get to met 'Ani' (Barney !). Hehe.
I would totally recommend bringing your child(ren) there.

Hellouuu Barneyy !!

For more information on Puteri Harbour Family Theme Park, click here. :)

March

Mr. Sunshine and I attended a Shaklee Product Workshop last Saturday at Ayer Keroh. After listening to nutritionist, Celine Lim talk about all of the Shaklee products benefits and safety, I feel like consuming every single one. Falling more and more in love with Shaklee !

With Master Iffah Anuar. :)
With Master Shareeza. :)

My sisters in Shaklee. :) (It's so obvious that I've gained a couple of kilos in this photo, sob sob sob)

We're CERTIFIED Shaklee Independent Distributors yo !

And yesterday, Linn finally delivered a healthy baby boy ! I am a proud aunt and I can't believe my little brother is a father now !*happy tears*
Alhamdulillah both mother and baby are well. :)

Assalamu'alaikum world !

Awwwhh !

Khayla is 18 months now, Alhamdulillah.
She's experimenting with a lot of new poses when we ask her to smile for the camera. Hehe.

Looks to the side and smiles.

Presses her cheeks against others and smiles.

Squashes people's cheeks with hers.
I shall call this Khayla's sexy pose, hahaha.

She is expanding her vocabulary pretty well I would say, Alhamdulillah.
She know's how to ask for water, "Nak air (pronounced as air = angin), nak nak, jom !".
Says "nanak" when she doesn't want something.
Says "akut" when she's afraid of something, will want to "wosh" her hands when they're dirty.
She's very generous with hugs and kisses. "Ag, Ag !" (hug)
Loves to "des" (dance) ! Looks for her "owel" when she needs to bathe, says, "nak uwa" when she wants to go out, says "oat" (kasut) when she wants to put own her shoes. Points to my handbag and says, 'bag, bag" before we go out or get out of the car.

Says "awuwu" when we say I love you to her. :)

A = apul (apple), awwoh (Allah)
B = ball
C = tat (cat) - she's afraid of cats.
D = dog

Can count from 1 to 3 then stops and continues with 8, stops and then, tennn ! Hehe. Et cetera, et cetera, et cetera ! In a nutshell, she's quite a talker !
Alhamdulillah, it's such a blessing to see her develop and grow up so beautifully. *happy tears*
Time for a sibling ? Haha, InshaAllah, if there's rezeki. :)

Okay people, time to finish packing up parcels for my dear customers and then I must get some shut-eye.
Goodnight.
Assalamu'alaikum. :)
